Hi, I'm Amanda Click - the chef and owner behind First Name Basis.
Here's a bit about how this all came to be:
Upon graduation from the College of Charleston in 2009, I had the privilege of working as the editor of a hyperlocal news blog in town. My favorite part of the job was befriending and interviewing the farmers, chefs, food truckers and restaurateurs spearheading Charleston's (then) culinary renaissance. I was so inspired by this group of people that I enrolled at the Culinary Institute of Charleston. I abandoned my journalistic career, and dove head first into Charleston's Food & Beverage scene.
The idea for First Name Basis came to me after years of honing my skills in restaurants, on award-winning food trucks, private chef gigs and as head chef of a local catering company. I had the game-changing experience of working with a wood-fired oven at one of these jobs and I immediately fell in love.
Thus was born First Name Basis.
